A 56-year-old Village of Santo Domingo man landed back behind bars Tuesday after violating his probation on a charge of driving under the influence.
George Mey had been arrested Jan. 10, 2017 after he was spotted driving 90 miles per hour on U.S. Hwy. 441 in Marion County. At the time of his arrest he admitted to drinking three 22-ounce beers and a shot, according to an arrest report from the Florida Highway Patrol. He provided breath samples that registered .142 and .137 blood alcohol content. He was arrested on charges of driving under the influence and reckless driving.
Mey was sentenced in September to three months in jail and one year of probation. He was ordered to stay away from alcohol and illicit drugs.
However, cocaine was discovered in his system in a Feb. 5 drug screen, according to court records. Mey claimed the positive screen was caused by medication he was taking.
Mey was booked without bond at the Marion County Jail.
