Two women were arrested after a traffic stop early Friday morning in which a K-9 alerted on their vehicle.

Dashawn Lanae Peterson, 34, of Summerfield, had been driving a vehicle pulled over at 1:50 a.m. on County Road 25 in Fruitland Park.

A front seat passenger, 28-year-old Sarah Marie Finn of Fruitland Park, was found to be wanted on multiple Sumter County warrants and was taken into custody, according to an arrest report from the Fruitland Park Police Department.

The police officer asked for consent to search the vehicle, but Peterson was “very apprehensive,” the arrest report said.

A K-9 unit arrived on the scene and alerted on the vehicle, indicating the presence of drugs.

Syringes, a scale, straws and pills were found in a handbag, which Peterson admitted belonged to her.

She was arrested on a charge of drug possession and booked at the Lake County Jail. Bond was set at $1,000.
