The Lake County Sheriff’s Office is touting a recent bust that saw a man and woman wanted on felony warrants arrested after a deputy was almost hit by their car.

Edwin L. Rodriguez, of Summerfield, and Jacqueline Dawn Brown, of Wildwood were taken into custody after a chase on July 8, that started on U.S. Hwy. 27 south of Leesburg. Street Crimes deputies had attempted to stop the car driven by Rodriguez, as they had been actively looking for the pair.

A car driven by Edwin Rodriguez of Summerfield ended up stuck in a field after plunging over a five-foot retention wall last Sunday, a Lake County Sheriff’s Office report states.

During the chase, Rodriguez made several evasive turns and then went “head on” with a deputy and allegedly attempted to run him over, a sheriff’s office report states. The deputy, who was already outside his vehicle, had to jump a two-foot wall to avoid being hit, the report says.

Rodriguez’s vehicle eventually plunged over a five-foot retention wall and ended up stuck in a field. He was immediately taken into custody, while Brown fled on foot and was found a short time later in a nearby motel room.
