Trump guarantees there is no such thing as a slow news day

To the Editor:

I feel constrained to respond to the “Independent” who, in his letter to the editor of July 15, implores Democrats to cease their “Trump bashing.” Where was Mr. Independent for the last 8 years before The Donald? I saw no example of his ire when, for those 8 years, the Republicans unceasingly “bashed” President Obama with a sustained attack including the baseless “birther” issue (led in great part by The Donald himself); who steadfastly refused to agree to even debate anything proposed by Pres. Obama; and  even abrogated their constitutionally mandated requirement to advise and consent to a highly qualified nominee to the Supreme Court. And that “Obama Bashing” was not only condoned by the Republican hierarchy, but was instigated by that conglomeration of ignoramuses. Can Mr. Independent explain the Obama Derangement Syndrome that consumed the Republican establishment during those 8 years? I think not. Something about “sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander” comes to mind. So far as I am concerned, Mr. Independent’s plea is 8 years late and, as for me, now falls on deaf ears. Besides, every time The Donald opens his mouth (as he did today with Vladimir Putin), he never fails to insert his foot and, thereby, gives us that much more grist for the mill for “Trump Bashing”. By the same token, Mr. Trump never fails to disappoint. With him in charge, there is no such thing as a slow news day!
