Thomas (Tom) Newton Hudson, 79, passed away on August 11, 2018 doing what he loved, riding a bike. He was born on August 26, 1938 in Daytona Beach, Volusia, FL., a son of Thomas Chalmers Hudson and Myrtle Mildred Strickland.
He graduated from Mainland High School and attended some college. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy for two years and was a U.S. Postal Inspector from September 1969 through May 1990.
He married Donna Marie Gagner on September 10, 1961, had four children and lived in Daytona, Kentucky and St. Louis, MO. He married Sharen Coy Robinson Murphy on June 26, 1982 in Miami, Dade, FL. and lived in Perrine and Jackson, GA before moving to The Villages, FL in 2012.
Tom was a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Fruitland Park, FL and has been a member of the Sons of the American Revolution since 2000. He enjoyed genealogy, history, and riding his bike and achieved riding 75 miles on his 75th birthday. He played a huge role in publishing the Butts County Cemetery Book. He has researched and compiled many family histories for family members and friends. He was also considered a handyman, practically rebuilding his home on Jackson Lake following retirement.
Tom was predeceased by brothers, Robin Leslie, and Steven Monroe Hudson and half-brother Albert Foster Tallant. Survivors include his children, Thomas Newton II, Lawrence Lee, Laurie Lee, and Shean Michael Hudson and a step-son, Charles Richard Murphy. Grand-children: Loren Alexander and Christopher Mark Gomez, Bruce Thomas, Duncan Nathaniel, Garrett Blake, McKensie and Madison Hudson, Victoria Marie and Samantha Toni Lowe.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, August 24, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church. Interment will follow.
