Theft of cell phone reported at Wal-Mart in Summerfield

A cell phone was reportedly stolen Thursday at  Wal-Mart in Summerfield.

A Marion County sheriff’s deputy responded to the Wal-Mart in reference to a theft, according to an incident report. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with the store’s loss prevention officer who advised he observed an unknown white male take a cell phone off of the shelf. The suspect eventually placed the cellphone in his waistband under his shirt and left through the garden center without paying for the phone. The loss prevention officer then identified himself to the suspect several times, but the suspect ignored him and kept walking.

The stolen phone is a Motorola E4 valued at $69.
