The Villages Musical Theater to offer expo Monday at Coconut Cove Recreation Center

Ever wanted to perform in a local musical?

The Villages Musical Theater is offering a series of workshops for Villagers to help meet that goal.

An Expo and registration will be held on Monday, May 14, at Coconut Cove Recreation Center from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

The list of workshop classes includes acting, singing, dancing and learning how to read parts. It is open to all Villagers without charge. But there is a “modest” cost for materials for some sessions. Those participating need not be a member of The Villages Musical Theater.

Kathy Chesley-Williams will offer dance classes.

Pre-registration is not required, but class sizes will be limited. Registration after the Expo, beginning May 15, may be done by sending an email to Bill Davis at davis368@gmail.com

Here are the classes and instructors:

Reading and Following Your Part in a Vocal Music Score with Bill Davis: June 1, at Canal St. Recreation Center; 10 a.m. (one session only); limit of 150 participants.

Movement and Dance with Kathy Chelsey-Williams: June 8 and June 22, at Canal Street Recreation Center; 10 a.m. Participants may attend either one or both sessions; 30 participants per session.

Vocal Performance with Mary Lou Merkner: June 11 and June 18 at Coconut Cove Recreation Center; 6:30 p.m. Participants may attend either one or both sessions; 30 participants per session.

Acting Skills with Sandie Hawthorne: June 14 and June 21 at Paradise Recreation Center; 6:30 p.m. Participants may attend either one or both sessions; 35 participants per session.
