Teen who ran red light arrested with large quantity of marijuana

A teenager who ran a red light Saturday night was arrested with a large quantity of marijuana in Marion County.

Dewell Alvarado Lopez, 18, of Ocala, had been driving a red Honda Civic shortly before midnight when he ran a red light at State Road 200 at Interstate 75, according to an arrest report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

A search of his vehicle turned up 36.5 grams of marijuana, a felony level amount.

He was also found to be in possession of drug equipment.

He was taken into custody and booked at the Marion County Jail.
