Teen driver ticketed after crashing into Villager’s car

A teen driver was ticketed Tuesday after crashing into a Villager’s car on U.S. Hwy. 27/441 near La Plaza Grande in The Villages.

Kayla Charles, 18, of Belleview, at 2:15 p.m. attempted to turn left at La Plaza Parkway when her 2007 Saturn traveled into the path of a 2016 Ford Focus driven by 72-year-old Viola Levon Hunter of the Village of Santo Domingo.

A teen driver was ticketed after an accident Tuesday on U.S. Hwy. 27/441.

Both the driver and passenger airbags deployed in Hunter’s vehicle, however, she and a passenger, 64-year-old Ronald David Hunter also of the Village of Santo Domingo, escaped injury, according to an accident report from the Lady Lake Police Department.

Charles and a passenger in her vehicle, 47-year-old David Charles of Weirsdale, also were uninjured.

Charles was ticketed on a charge of failure to yield to oncoming traffic.

An 81-year-old Villager died after a similar accident at the same location this past November.
