TB Financial Group 75+ wins 2018 ISSA/WBSC World Tournament of Champions.

TB Financial Group 75+ major team played in the 2018 ISSA/WBSC World Tournament of Champions that was held in Tampa, Florida from January 24 – 26, 2018.

Three teams were scheduled to play in the 75+ Major classification, but TB Financial ended up being the only 75+ Major team in the tournament and was therefore awarded the Championship. TB Financial was then placed in the 70+ AAA Bracket. Three of the four games played were extremely competitive being won or lost by one run.

In the first game, TB Financial won over Steel City (Pittsburgh) 70s 8-7. In the 2nd game CC Medical Services, (New York) won 13-12. CC Medical Services would be the eventual tournament winner beating Spicer Properties (Maryland), in the Championship and “if” game.

In the first game held on Thursday, Steel City avenged their loss the previous day by winning 17-8. The second game of the day pitted Tennessee Seniors (Tennessee) against TB Financial and Tennessee won 15-14.

“We made it competitive,” stated Mgr. Dick Kanyan. “The 5-year age difference and the 70 feet bases makes a big difference.”

All World Players: John Flor, Don Borie, MVP Roger Scott and Chino Blanco.

The All World Team players for TB Financial were Don Borie, Chino Blanco, and John Flor. The MVP was Roger Scott.

Leading hitters for TB Financial were Dave Mamuscia (1.000) 1-1, Don Borie (.777), Roger Scott (.769), Chino Blanco (.700), John Flor and Gregg Foster (.667), Dick Kanyan (.600) 6 RBI, Roy Hern (.567), Bill Dunkley and Carl McWilliams (.556), Tom McGann (.454), Paul Duda (.444), Rod Severson (.364) 8 RBI, and John Ramage (.300).
