Suspected shoplifter arrested after second trip to Wal-Mart at Buffalo Ridge Plaza

A  suspected shoplifter was arrested Thursday morning after a second trip to Wal-Mart at Buffalo Ridge Plaza.

Michael Allen Ross

Michael Allen Ross, 21, of Ocala, was nabbed at the nearby Murphy’s Express service station at about 7:30 a.m. after a shoplifting incident at Wal-Mart. He had pushed a cart containing $828.58 stolen merchandise out of the store, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

He was confronted with surveillance photos taken on Sunday at the same store when the person captured in the images had loaded an Omen Computer valued at $1,259 and a Cuisinart Mixer valued at $249 into a shopping cart and left the store without paying for the items.

When Ross was shown the surveillance images, he hung his head and admitted it was him. He refused to identify two female accomplices seen in the images with him. He claimed he had coerced them into participating in the theft.

He was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center on two counts of grand theft. Bond was set at $4,000.
