Suspect in theft of Kohl’s merchandise tracked down after fleeing in mother’s car

Kayce Jean McRae

A resident of The Quarters Apartments has been arrested in the theft of merchandise at Kohl’s.

Kayce Jean McRae, 32, attempted to leave the store on March 17 with  two pairs of shoes, one pair of sandals, a bathing suit, a sports bra, a pair of spandex shorts and jewelry, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. She was confronted by the store’s loss prevention officer and fled in a white Hyundai, leaving the merchandise behind in a shopping cart. The loss prevention officer took down the vehicle’s license plate. The car was tracked down to McRae’s mother, who indicated her daughter had been using the car. Additional merchandise was recovered from the vehicle.

McRae was taken into custody and booked at the Lake County Jail. She was released after posting $2,000 bond.
