Suspect arrested in Krystal robbery, recovered handgun could lead to other cases

Dekeiveous Stewart

Detectives from the Leesburg Police Department on Tuesday acquired probable cause for the arrest of 24 year-old Dekeiveous Stewart of Leesburg for the armed robbery this past Saturday of Krystal’s restaurant.

The assigned detective expedited an arrest warrant, via the Fifth Judicial Circuit, while other detectives and members of the Leesburg Police Department’s SWAT team conducted surveillance on a location where Stewart was believed to be hiding.  After the arrest warrant was confirmed, those detectives and SWAT officers arrested Stewart without incident.  After his arrest, detectives filed for, and were granted, a search warrant for the location where the arrest was made. Subsequent to the execution of the search warrant, detectives discovered and seized a .22-caliber revolver believed to have been used in several other armed robberies in the area.

Stewart was interviewed by detectives at the Leesburg Police Department and was later turned over to the Lake County Jail.
