Susan Thomson

Susan Thomson

Susan Thomson, of The Villages, FL, passed away peacefully on the morning of February 22, 2018 at the age of 84.

After many years of caring for everyone in her life in countless ways, during her final couple of years she received the care from others that she so richly deserved.

Married to Bob for over 62 years, and together for nearly 70 years after meeting in high school at Ferris High School in Jersey City, New Jersey, Sue and Bob called four places home over the years: 1) Key West, Florida while Bob served his duty to the U.S. Navy, 2) Ridgefield Park, New Jersey where their two daughters were raised, 3) Cedarburg, Wisconsin where their son and first grandson were raised, and finally 4) The Villages, FL, where they spent their twilight years being involved in various activities, including the ChapaDario Red Hats, and the New Jersey Club.

Sue loved cooking, painting, photography and singing Patsy Cline songs, but was most proud of her family, near and far.

She is survived by her husband Bob of Oxford, FL; her daughter Susan (Michael) Scott of Schwenksville, PA; her daughter Linda Astrella of Lady Lake, FL; and her son Rob (Wendy) Thomson of Orlando, FL. Sue leaves behind 5 grandchildren who she adored: Christopher (Julie), Samantha, Nicole, Alexandra and Trey. She also leaves behind four nephews and four nieces who she loved like children of her own. Sue was preceded in death by her parents Sabatino and Louise Pecoraro; her brother Salvatore; and her sister Theresa.

The family would like to thank the communities of Carriage House, Serenades by Sonata, and Cornerstone Emerald Group for their welcoming and loving staff.

Visitation will be at Hiers-Baxley Funeral & Cremation Life Event Center, 3975 Wedgewood Lane, The Villages, FL 32162 on Thursday, March 1 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Timothy’s Catholic Church on Friday, March 2, 2018 at 10 a.m., to be followed by a graveside service at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Gotha, FL.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be directed to the Thomson/Yonfa Fund at the Central Florida Foundation, 800 N. Magnolia Ave., Suite 1200, Orlando, FL 32803.
