Village of Sunset Pointe resident calls for signage ‘before an accident happens’

A Village of Sunset Pointe resident is calling for signage to be put up “before an accident happens.”

William Satterfield made the request Friday morning before the Community Development District 5 Board of Supervisors.

He said people traveling on Bailey Trail who intend to go to a golf course are missing the turn. They then are forced to turn around at the Sunset Pointe Postal Station.

“We’ve almost had a couple of accidents there near the postal station,” Satterfield said.

CDD 5 Supervisor Gerald Ferlisi concurred with Satterfield’s assessment of the situation. Ferlisi said he frequently travels in that area.

“I think a sign would be a big improvement,” he said.

CDD 5 Supervisors agreed to forward the request to the Project Wide Advisory Committee.

If the sign goes up, there would have to be coordination with Sumter County as the sign would have to be placed in its right of way.
