The Sunday Tea Club held its annual “Char-I-Tea,” which featured a salute to Elvis; members dressed up as “Alice in Wonderland” characters and a table honoring Paris, France.
The event was held Sunday at the Rohan Recreation Center and drew nearly 200 people. Nearly $5,500 was raised to benefit Camp Boggy Creek. Bonnie Hanna is the chairwoman of The Sunday Tea Club.
Charlene Hall, an avid Elvis Presley fan, decorated her table with items honoring the King of Rock and Roll. Her daughter, Michele Ehrbar, flew in from Denver to help decorate the table.
“I come from Mississippi, and Elvis was born there,” Hall said. “I was 10 years old when my next door neighbor brought an Elvis record to our house. It was ‘One Night With You,” and I loved it. I learned how to dance to that record and I’ve loved Elvis ever since.”
Hall, a breast cancer survivor, turns 70 on April 2, and will visit Graceland to celebrate.
“It’s a great place and I want to be near Elvis for my birthday,” she said.
