Sumter County Sheriff Bill Farmer calling on golfers to sign up for annual tourney   

Sumter County Sheriff Bill Farmer will hold his annual golf charity event for youth June 23 at Glenview Country Club.

This year’s step-aside scramble marks the 20th anniversary of the tournament, which features shotgun starts at 7:45 a.m. and 1 p.m. for the four-person teams.

Sheriff Farmer’s Golf Tourney

Those participating will enjoy either a continental breakfast or lunch, depending on their start times. A hole-in-one prize for a car will be sponsored by George Nahas Chevrolet in Wildwood, while a similar hole-in-one contest for a golf cart will be sponsored by The Villages Golf Cars.

Door prizes also will be given away. Golf mulligans will be available for purchase. And following the event, an awards banquet/dinner will be held at the Savannah Center, located at the corner of Buena Vista Boulevard and El Camino Real.

A combination golf and dinner ticket is $80, while golf only costs $60. Guest tickets for the banquet are $25. A cash bar will open at 6 p.m., followed by dinner at 7:30.

Dinner tickets will not be available at the banquet and must be purchased in advance.

Those wishing to sign up can do so at Glenview Country Club. Players can register as a team or as individuals and be paired up with other golfers. For more information, call the golf shop at (352) 753-3345.
