Summerfield woman who blew through stop sign nabbed on DUI charge

Carrie Ann Crowell

A Summerfield woman was arrested Sunday morning after a Marion County sheriff’s sergeant stopped her for running a stop sign.

A short time later, a deputy arrived in the 6000 block of NE 132nd Street Rd. to assist the sergeant. After speaking with 34-year-old Carrie Ann Crowell, who was driving a Pontiac Sunfire, the deputy asked if she’d submit to field sobriety tests, which she agreed to do, a sheriff’s office report states.

Crowell, who lives at 6610 SE 139th St., failed all three tests, including incorrectly reciting the alphabet. She was taken into custody and transported to the Marion County Jail, where she was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Crowell, who has been in the Marion County Jail three times since 2003, was released Monday at 3:58 a.m. on $1,000 bond.
