Summerfield woman nabbed in two-months-long undercover drug sting

Erica Marie Brooks

A Summerfield woman was arrested Wednesday on multiple drug charges following an undercover sting by the Unified Drug Enforcement Strike Team.

Erica Marie Brooks, 32, was taken into custody following three drug purchases by confidential sources working with members of UDEST. She faces six charges in the case, which dates back to June 12 when a confidential source identified her as the woman who sold him or her a substance that tested positive for methamphetamine for $50, a UDEST report states.

Two other confidential sources also reported similar purchases of a substance that tested positive for methamphetamine, one on June 19 for $60 and another on June 26 for $150. All three transactions were captured on audio/video surveillance equipment and each confidential source was searched before and after the transactions. Each confidential source also picked Brooks out of a photographic lineup that consisted of six white females, the report says.

Brooks, who lives at 10521 SE 151st Street in Summerfield, was transported to the Marion County Jail and charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance and three counts of selling a controlled substance (methamphetamine). She was released at 12:35 a.m. Thursday on $21,000 bond.

UDEST is an initiative of the North Florida High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area. It is comprised of local, state and federal law enforcement from the Ocala Police Department, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Drug Enforcement Administration and Department of Homeland Security.
