A 37-year-old Summerfield man was arrested Wednesday night on a charge of driving under the influence after he ran an unmarked law enforcement patrol vehicle off the road.

Ronnie Lee Rasnick had been driving at a high rate of speed in the area of SE 144th Place and SE 37th Terrace when he ran the vehicle of a lieutenant with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office off the road. Rasnick’s vehicle also had been weaving in its lane of traffic, the arrest report indicated. There was a strong odor of alcohol emanating from him and his speech was slurred.

Initially, he attempted to give a false name to a deputy.

Rasnick had his three children in the vehicle with him.

Rasnick told a deputy he had consumed two and a half beers.

It was also discovered that he was wanted on a warrant out of Virginia.

Rasnick was booked at the Marion County Jail.

Rasnick’s girlfriend picked up the children and the vehicle.
