Summerfield man arrested after allegedly throwing porcelain bowl at woman’s rented vehicle

A 21-year-old Summerfield man was arrested Monday after allegedly throwing a porcelain bowl at a woman’s rented vehicle.

James Alan Barbato allegedly threw a cereal bowl at the white Buick SUV which had been rented by a woman through Enterprise Rental, according to an arrest report from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

Two women were dropping off Barbato’s possessions at his residence on SE Hwy. 42 when he saw the vehicle approaching and threw the bowl at it, striking the windshield and cracking it. He then forced his way into the vehicle.

A retired Marion County Sheriff’s Office captain witnessed the incident.

Barbato was taken into custody and booked at the Marion County Jail where he was initially held without bond.
