Summerfield bank reports cashing several checks stolen from Clermont business

A local bank’s corporate security officer called the Marion County Sheriff’s Office for help Tuesday morning after several checks that were stolen from a Clermont business were cashed at the Summerfield branch.

The Regions Bank security officer told the deputy that the checks were cashed on April 16 and the money was refunded to the customer. She said that since that made the bank the victim of the crime, she wanted to press charges if the person who illegally cashed the checks was caught.
