Speeding driver without license arrested during traffic stop at Lowe’s

A speeding driver without a driver’s license was arrested Saturday morning during a traffic stop at Lowe’s at Trailwinds Village on County Road 466A.

Mariano Barriga Rocha, 29, had been at the wheel of a red 2004 Ford F-150 pickup at 9:10 a.m. when he was caught on radar traveling at 40 miles per hour in 30 mph zone, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department.

Rocha spoke “minimal English,” according to the report. The police officer found the Rocha had never obtained a driver’s license.

He was arrested on a charge of operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license and booked at the Sumter County Detention Center. He was released after posting $500 bond.
