Speeding driver blamed in rollover crash in morning commute on U.S. Hwy. 27/441

Two people were transported to The Villages Regional Hospital after a rollover crash in the Wednesday morning commute on U.S. Hwy. 27/441 in Lady Lake.

The crash occurred shortly after 7 a.m. near Hartsock Sawmill Road.

This car rolled over Wednesday morning on U.S. Hwy. 27/441

Justin Lee Milicic, 31, of Wildwood had been driving a 2008 Dodge Caliber and attempted to avoid a rear-end collision with a 2017 Ford Fusion four-door sedan driven by 46-year-old Michelle Angela Copp of Tavares who had slowed for traffic, according to an accident report from the Lady Lake Police Department.

Witnesses, including a woman who lives in The Villages, told police that Milicic had been weaving in and out of traffic, changing lanes several times, and in the Villager’s opinion, he had been speeding.

Milicic attempted to swerve to avoid the collision, but struck the rear end of Copp’s vehicle. His vehicle then rolled over onto the side of the highway.

Milicic and Copp were transported by ambulance to TVRH. The report indicated their injuries were not life threatening.

He was ticketed on a charge of careless driving.
