Speeding driver arrested after drinking at Chili’s in The Villages

Peter Anthony Hinton

A speeding driver was arrested Wednesday night after drinking at Chili’s in The Villages.

Peter Anthony Hinton, 26, of Longwood, had been driving 68 miles per hour in a 40 mph zone at about 9:30 p.m., according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. A traffic stop was initiated on U.S. Hwy. 27/441 near the entrance to Water Oak.

When the officer asked Hinton for his driver’s license, he instead handed the officer a 10 percent discount coupon from Lowe’s.

The Illinois native told the officer he had been drinking at Chili’s. Hinton said he had been drinking “Crown and Coke” and lost track as to how many drinks he had consumed.

Hinton failed field sobriety exercises and provided breath samples that registered .159 and .154 blood alcohol content. He was booked on $1,000 bond at the Lake County Jail.
