Snowbird enjoys rock climbing during Outdoor and Sports Expo in The Villages

The first day of the Villages annual Outdoor and Sports Expo was well attended. For the first time the two day exhibit was split between the La Hacienda and Rohan Regional recreation centers. Both venues had several clubs represented as well as outdoor equipment vendors.

One crowd favorite was the Pinnacle Rock Climbing Rentals exhibit. Sandy Palmer, a snowbird from Minnesota had never tried rock climbing. The grandmother and Senior Games gold medalist was up for the challenge and reached the top on her first try.

Four fishing clubs were at the La Hacienda Recreation Center as were three bicycle vendors, a kayak touring company and both of the bicycle clubs in The Villages.

Barbara Bonney, Linda Witt and Sharon Hamilton signed up potential members to the Women Fly Fishers of The Villages club.

The Rohan center has exhibits for pickleball, beach tennis an basketball. A large area of the parking lot was blocked off as remote controlled cars were raced. Wayne Clark and his wife Sally had a display of air rifles and pistols at the Villages Air Gun Club booth.

The exhibit runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.
