Signs warn residents to stay away from pond behind Paradise Center

A small amount of raw sewage has leaked into a water retention pond behind Paradise Recreation Center on the Historic Side of The Villages.

Thus as a precautionary measure, residents in the area are being asked to stay away from the water.

Signs are up all around the pond warning residents of the situation.

Crews had been working on a lift station in the area when a bypass line leaked, according to Sam Wartinbee of District Property Management.

Water samples have been taken and sent off to the Florida Department of Environmental Protection for testing.
