‘Sensational 70’s Dance Party’ will bring back memories at Savannah Center

She may sing like a disco queen, but Dawn DiNome has few recollections of the 1970s.
“I was born in 1978, I can’t remember any music,” said DiNome . She and her father Ralph, along with their  Flashback Band, will headline “A Sensational 70’s Dance Party.”
The show, directed by Carol Greenfield, will be held Feb. 20 and 21 at 7 p.m. in Savannah Center. Proceeds benefit Villages Honor Flight.

Dawn DiNome, third from right, and her 70s pals will perform the music from that disco decade Feb 20 and 21 in Savannah Center.

Also on the bill is Bruce Greenberger, who will act as master of ceremonies and dance with his wife, Lynne. They call themselves the “Savoy Kicks” and the Greenbergers will be teaching some nifty 70’s dance steps. There will also be trivia and costume contests.
“We want people to put on their bell bottom pants, polyester leisure suits, and get a groove on,” Greenfield said in ‘70s slang.
Despite the disco era, there was some outstanding music in the ‘70s.
“It’s surprising how many good songs there are,” Dawn DiNome said. The setlist includes “After Midnight,” “Get Ready,” “Long and Winding Road,” “Crocodile Rock,” “Lyin’ Eyes,”

“Desperado,” “Without You,” and “When Will I Be Loved.”

Tickets are $18 for residents and $23 for non-Villagers. Audience members may bring their own drinks and snacks, Greenfield said.
