Robert “Bob” Hunt, 80, of The Villages, FL, passed away on August 18, 2018 following a long battle with PSP (Progressive Supranuclear Palsy).
Bob was born February 27, 1938 in Minneapolis, Minnesota and grew up in Hood River, Oregon. He was a Marine Security Guard at the American Embassy in Ankara, Turkey where he met and married his wife, Marian. After returning to college in Oregon and earning a degree in electronics, he was accepted into the Central Intelligence Agency where he served 26 years. His career resulted in postings in Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Middle East. Upon retiring to The Villages in 1995, Bob worked for a time as a pool monitor at the Hacienda Sports Pool, then became an ambassador at the De La Vista and Tierra del Sol golf courses.
He leaves behind his wife, Marian and daughter Laura (T.F.) Butler and granddaughters, Brittney, Chelsea, Hayley and Tara of Harpers Ferry, WV. He also leaves a son, Jeffrey B. (Dana) and grandchildren, Christian, Lucas, Logan, Abe and Isabella of Martinsburg, WV.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, August 24 from 9 to 9:30 a.m. at the Beyers Funeral Home at 134 North Highway 27/441 in Lady Lake, FL. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. at St. Timothy Catholic Church in Lady Lake. Burial will follow at the Florida National Cemetery with full military honors.
