Robert Hunter

Robert Joseph Hunter, 82, of The Villages passed from this life to his eternal reward on March 18 2018.
Bob was born in Troy NY on April 19 1935, son of Joseph and Eva (Jollivette) Hunter. Upon graduation from Catholic Central High School he served his country in the US Navy from 1955-1957. He was employed by the A&P for 15 years before beginning a 32 year career for NY State, starting as a tax examiner and retiring as a Business Officer in charge of a mental health facility. He married the love of his life, Mary Jean Skorenski on July 12th 1959, 6 months after their first date. Bob and Jean lived in New York until 2001 when they retired to the Villages.
Bob loved playing golf and enjoying life in the Villages. He lived life to the fullest, never missing the opportunity to celebrate and travel. He was a devout Catholic and an active member of the Knights of Columbus for many years and a loyal parishioner at St Timothy’s since their arrival in the Villages.
He took great pride in his children and grandchildren. He always felt that he and Jean “had the best marriage that anyone could wish for”.
He is survived by his loving wife Jean, sister Norma Morin, brother Thomas Hunter, daughter Diane Battaglia (Phil), and four sons Robert Hunter (Bernadette), David Hunter (Cheryl), Daniel Hunter (Jean), and Michael Hunter (Allison). His adored grandchildren are Kirsten, Sara, Rachel, Brendan, Andrew, Alison, Ian, Nicole, Owen, Cara, Zach, Kristine and Wyatt. He was blessed with 4 great grandchildren Cody, Victoria Rose, and Isabella Battaglia and Radek Emlet.
Bob was predeceased by his parents, brother Larry Hunter, daughter Donna Hunter Kohler, and grandsons Kevin and Jeffrey Battaglia.
Visitation and Mass
A visitation will be held 4:00 to 6:00 PM on Thursday March 22 at Beyers Funeral Home in Lady Lake. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 8:30 AM on Friday at St. Timothy Catholic Church.
Interment
Interment will follow at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell with military honors.
Reception
Celebration of Life reception will be held at Seabreeze Recreation Center at 1pm on Friday.
