Robert ‘Bob’ James Jaeckel

Robert “Bob” James Jaeckel, 83, of The Villages, FL, passed away Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at his home in The Villages, Florida. Robert was born in Belleville, Illinois to the late Fred and Elise Jerome Jaeckel. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his first wife Nancy Mabry Jaeckel; brother Fred Jaeckel and sister Betty Jaeckel Dobkowski.

He graduated from St. Louis University in Missouri and worked at Price Waterhouse in Ohio. He then served his country for 26 years, 6 months and 6 days in the US Air Force (he didn’t plan it that way, it’s just the way it worked out), retiring as a Lt. Colonel. He moved to The Villages in 2000.

Bob was a great man with a good sense of humor, love of life and many friends. He was a very active pinochle player and joined in with many groups of players in The Villages. He served St. Mark’s as a Eucharist Minister; his faith and love of God and his church marked his days with hope and joy.

He is survived by his loving wife Anne Russell Jaeckel; children Catherine Melvyn, Robert (Anne) Jaeckel, David (Lori) Jaeckel, Nancy (Gordon) McDonald; stepchildren, Denise (Jack) Sullivan, Ken(Patricia) Lindblom, Tim (Donna) Lindblom, Sueann (Bob) Stoya, Lynn (Jim) Roell, Steven (Barbara) Russell; 20 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; sister Alice Schurman; sister-in-law Joan Jaeckel and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, December 28, 2017 at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, Summerfield, FL. Interment will follow at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida…

Memorial contributions may be made to Cornerstone Hospice.
