Restaurant at popular docking point reopens after forced closure over roaches and rodents

A restaurant at a popular local docking point has reopened after it was temporarily closed because of roaches and rodents.

Pirats Oasis Bar and Grill on County Road 42 in Weirsdale was shut down March 2 after a state inspector found multiple dead roaches in the food preparation area.

Pirats Oasis Bar & Grill is located at a popular docking point on the Ocklawaha River.

Of greater concern to the inspector were multiple droppings from rodents on the kitchen floor, near a microwave and near the cash register, according to the report which is on file with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.

Pirats Oasis Bar and Grill, previously known as the Blue Heron, provides a popular docking point for boats on the Ocklawaha River.
