Ranveig ‘Ransy’ Sommer

Rannveig ‘Ransy’ Sommer, 88, Lady Lake, Florida, passed away on January 7, 2017 at her residence in Lady Lake, Florida surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Sommer was born on August 15, 1928 in Bildudaler, Iceland to her parents Jon Johannsson and Jonina Olaffdottir. She moved to Lady Lake from Guantanamo, Cuba. She was an avid horseback rider and had a passion for serving Icelandic coffee at her home. Mrs. Sommer kept a beautiful home where cake and coffee were plentiful and a table was always ready for family and friends. There was no doubt she was a very proud Icelander and loved to show others the love she had for Iceland in her personal photos. She is survived by her loving children: Nina Dickerson of Deland, FL, Marlow Sommer and his wife Kris of Lady Lake, FL and John Sommer and his wife Mary of Eustis, FL; a sisters: Gurry Milburn of Indianapolis, IN; two grandchildren: Lindsey Sommer and Robert Sommer and his wife Victoria; one great-grandchild: Bailey Sommer. She was preceded in death by her parents, her late husband, Robert C. Sommer, Son, Robert A. Sommer and two brothers, Olafur and Johann. Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, January 15, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Page-Theus Funeral Home Chapel, Leesburg with a visitation prior to the service from noon till the hour of service at the funeral home. The burial will take place on Monday, January 16, 2017 at 10 a.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Leesburg. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations to be made to Cornerstone Hospice at 2445 Lane Park Road, Tavares, FL 32778.
