Police on alert as Blues Brothers Revue returns for series of benefit shows

Look out Villagers — the Skolits brothers are back in town.
One time when John and Rob Skolits showed up in these parts with their Blues Brothers Revue, strange things happened:
They nearly got busted by Lady Lake Police Chief Chris McKinstry.
• The boys ticked off Dawn DiNome’s cool rocking daddy – Ralph DiNome. Ralph and Dawn are popular singers in The Villages and good girl Dawn nearly ruined her life by getting hitched to bad boy Rob.
Mama Theresa Skolits – who lives in The Villages — bailed the boys out of trouble when the bluesome twosome somehow forgot their cowbell.

Lady Lake Police Chief Chris McKinstry nabs Rob, left, and John Skolits of the Blues Brothers Tribute Band.

“Here it is boys,” she said. “Thanks Mom,” the boys replied.
Well, it was all in good fun for a good cause. The Skolits Blues Brothers Revue will be held Feb. 11-14 at 7 p.m. in the North Lake Presbyterian Church. Tickets are $25 and proceeds benefit to Operation Homebound, to help the kids in the Ocala National Forest.

The show features over 20 performers, with a huge rocking band and horn section.

A preview will be held Feb. 11, at 6 p.m. in the American Legion Post 347 in Lady Lake.
So far, the Skolits family – including Ted who lives in The Villages with his mother. Ted and his brothers and sisters: Steve, Rich and Kathy – have raised about $14,000 for charity.
“It’s great to do these shows,” Ted Skolits said. “The whole family gets together and we can all help the kids.”

Villager Ted noted the Skolits invasion will also include his three kids: Teddy, Kevin and Katie.
“I’m working on the 2030 show with my grandchildren,” Ted cracked. “The oldest just turned 5.”
