A pit bull was impounded after biting a teenager and charging at a Lady Lake police officer.
Lady Lake Animal Control was called at 5:11 p.m. Oct. 18 to a home in the 600 block of Ray Street to investigate a report of two aggressive pit bulls running loose, according to an incident report from the Lady Lake Police Department.
A 17-year-old said one of the dogs approached a woman and her children and started growling. The dog then bit the teen on the elbow.
The owners told the animal control officers that their roommate “accidentally” let the dogs out and they were unaware the dogs were loose, the report said.
An officer who had been called to the scene as backup for animal control was watching the dogs during the investigation. One of the pit bulls began to charge the officer, with the second dog following behind. The officer had to kick at both dogs “several times” to avoid being bitten.
The dog that bit the teen was impounded.
