Pancake breakfast to raise money for smart home for disabled Army veteran

Enjoy a pancake breakfast and, at the same time, support the Villagers For Veterans’ goal to build a smart home for disabled Army veteran Pam Kelly.

The Pine Hills Social Club is sponsoring the fundraiser Saturday, July 14, between 8 and 10 a.m. at Applebee’s restaurant near Spanish Springs Town Square.

Tickets are $5 each and can be purchased by clicking here.

“Printed tickets must be presented at the door,” said Judie Erchen, the club’s philanthropic chair. “Because we need an accurate number in advance, tickets must be purchased by July 8. They will not be available that morning.”

Villagers for Veterans has raised enough funds to purchase a house lot on the Historic Side of The Villages. Now, the organization hopes to construct a house with the specialized amenities and features needed so the 17-year veteran, who became a quadriplegic while on active duty, can live independently.

“This is a small opportunity to show our gratitude to a service member who sacrificed so much for us. How can people not help?” continued Erchen. “We hope everyone becomes a hero by helping someone who is.”
