Two people were arrested after one of them allegedly attempted to steal cologne from Belk at La Plaza Grande in The Villages.

The store’s loss prevention officer on surveillance observed 41-year-old Chad Tenpas of Leesburg at about 5 p.m. Tuesday putting a $77 bottle of cologne into his pocket, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. He was accompanied by 38-year-old Kimberley Schul of Leesburg.

When they attempted to leave the store without paying for the cologne, they were detained by the store’s loss prevention officer.

When a police officer arrived at the store, he found that Tenpas was wanted on an extraditable warrant out of Alabama.

Schul was found to be in possession of heroin and methamphetamine. She was arrested on two counts of drug possession and booked at the Lake County Jail. She was released after posting $4,000 bond.

Tenpas was arrested on a charge of retail theft. He was also found to be in violation of his probation. He was booked without bond at the jail.
