An Oxford man was arrested after allegedly threatening a woman with a large kitchen knife.

Jimmie Jones Jr., 31, is facing felony charges of aggravated assault and depriving use of 911 after his arrest Easter Sunday at a residence on County Road 222.

He got into a dispute with a neighbor, entered the woman’s home and found a large kitchen knife, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

“If you call 911 I will cut your throat,” he reportedly told her.

Deputies arrived on the scene and took Jones into custody.

He is already on probation for previous convictions of battery and aggravated battery in Lake and Sumter counties.

Jones was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center where he was initially held without bond.
