One-legged man arrested after showing up at mother’s home in The Villages

Daniel Vincent Whitmore

A one-legged man was arrested Tuesday when he showed up at his mother’s home in The Villages.

The mother of 56-year-old Daniel Vincent Whitmore contacted law enforcement at 1:30 p.m. when he showed up at her home on Turnberry Lane in the Village of Silver Lake, according to an arrest report from the Lady Lake Police Department. The mother has taken out a court order against her son, barring him from her property.

Whitmore had been arrested in January when he showed up and attempted to retrieve his prosthetic leg from his mother’s home.

On Tuesday, he was also charged with violating his probation.

Whitmore, already a convicted felon, was sentenced to two years probation on Feb. 5 in Lake County Court on a charge of possession of methamphetamine. He had been driving a golf cart without headlights at the time of that arrest.
