Ocala woman arrested and charged with domestic battery on disabled adult

Earlene Fayson Weathers

A retired Ocala woman was arrested Thursday afternoon after an elderly blind man told deputies she hit him in the head.

Earlene Fayson Weathers, 76, who lives in the 100th block of NW Street, was charged with domestic battery on a disabled adult.

The man told deputies that he was sitting on a couch inside the home when he felt something strike him on the left side of his head. Because of his blindness, he said he could only feel what was happening to him, the report says.

The man’s juvenile grandson told deputies that he was talking to his grandfather about a lawnmower key while Weathers was sitting outside on the front porch. He said Weathers came into the house and dropped something on the man’s foot before punching him in the head with a closed fist, the report says.

Weathers said she was arguing with the man and his grandson because they were talking too loud while she was trying to sleep. She denied hitting the man and said she was only defending herself because he was holding a stick, the report states.

Weathers was transported to the Marion County Jail, where she was held without bond.
