A 34-year-old woman was arrested early Tuesday morning on a felony charge of hit and run after she fled the scene of a crash in Ocala.
The Florida Highway Patrol was called at 12:15 a.m. to investigate a rear-end collision on State Road 40. A woman said her 2000 Nissan Sentra had been rear-ended and the other driver, a woman, had come up to check on her and then fled the scene. The woman who had been rear-ended had the number of the license plate of the vehicle that left the scene.
A Marion County sheriff’s deputy spotted a silver Mazda 3 with that license plate number traveling over 100 miles an hour westbound on State Road 40, about six miles from the scene of the crash.
The driver who fled the scene was identified as Alisia Rachel Bobby Keen.
“Mrs. Keen was emotional and stated that she was texting and driving and did not see the vehicle,” the trooper wrote in his report.
Keen was booked at the Marion County Jail and released after posting $5,000 bond.
