Ocala seafood restaurant shut down after dead rat found in kitchen

Louie’s Seafood Steak & Oyster Bar

An Ocala seafood restaurant was shut down last week after a dead rat was found in the kitchen.

Louie’s Seafood Steak & Oyster Bar at 1900 S Pine Ave. was shut down March 5 after the dead rodent was discovered by a health inspector, according to a report on file with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.

Other high-priority violations included mold growing in a walk-in cooler where lettuce was stored and rodent droppings found throughout the kitchen.

The restaurant’s manager lacked proof of food manager certification. In addition there was no proof of required state approved employee training provided for any employees.

The restaurant was allowed to re-open March 6 after correcting the problems.
