Ocala police officer dies of self-inflicted gunshot wound on New Year’s Day

Officer Walter Pressley of the Ocala Police Department died on New Year’s Day from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

He was 56 years old and has served the City of Ocala as a law enforcement officer since 1988. Most recently, he was serving as a school resource officer at Marion Technical College.

“Ocala PD is heartbroken by this unexpected and tragic loss, and we extend our deepest condolences to Officer Pressley’s family and friends,” the Ocala Police Department said in an issued statement.
