Ocala Police Department seeking suspect involved in shooting live streamed on Facebook

The Ocala Police Department is seeking a suspect involved in a shooting that occurred in Ocala and was live streamed on Facebook on Tuesday.

OPD is seeking a 37-year-old, black male named Searron Brooks Jr. in reference to a shooting that occurred in the 700 block of W. Silver Springs Place, according to a media release. The video footage obtained by OPD shows Brooks Jr. pointing a gun at the victim during a verbal altercation and then firing it into the air, the release stated. The verbal altercation continued until the victim stated he was going to call the police. Brooks Jr. fled the scene southbound and is believed to be abusing substances as well as armed.

Anyone with information regarding Brooks Jr.’s location should contact OPD at 352-369-7500 or submit a tip via the OPD app. Anonymous tips can be sent to Crime Stoppers at 368-STOP (7867).
