Ocala man seriously injured after collision with school bus in Marion County

An Ocala man was seriously injured after a collision with a school bus Monday afternoon in Marion County.

Robert Biechler, 33, was transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center after the collision which occurred at 2:43 p.m. on County Road 484.

He had been at the wheel of a 2016 Hyundai Sonata at 2:43 p.m. when his vehicle struck the rear of a 2004 Chrysler PT Cruiser driven by 61-year-old Carmelo Santiago of Summerfield. Santiago had stopped for a Marion County school bus driven by 43-year-old Lucindy Searingen of Summerfield, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

Biechler’s vehicle became partially wedged under the school bus.

Angela Rivers, 32, of Belleview, who had been standing nearby, suffered minor injuries and was transported to ORMC.

Biechler’s 9-year-old son was in the car with him, but escaped injury.

Biechler was ticketed on a charge of careless driving.
