At approximately 2:49 a.m., Fruitland Park police were involved in a traffic stop in the area of U.S. Hwy. 27/441 and American Lane, according to an arrest report. Edwin Lugo, 44, violated the Move Over Act as police were stopped in their patrol vehicles in the right lane with their emergency lights activated. Police conducted a traffic stop on Lugo’s vehicle and asked for his driver’s license and proof of insurance. Lugo provided police with a state identification card and stated “not technically” when police asked him if he had a valid driver’s license.

Lugo has had multiple suspensions currently on his license, as well as two prior driving while licenses suspended or revoked in 2014 and 2015.

Lugo was placed under arrest and booked at the Lake County Jail.
