Marion County sheriff’s deputies responded to 9 Juniper Loop Course in reference to a stolen cell phone. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with the victim who advised that while clearing out a property he owned, he allowed neighbors to come and take abandoned furniture. He stated that when he went to retrieve his cell phone, an $800 iPhone 7 Plus, he realized that it was missing. The victim believed that 35-year-old De Mario Marquis Brewer was responsible since he was the only person missing from the group of neighbors that gathered to look at the furniture.

Deputies advised Brewer of the allegations when he returned to the incident location. Brewer denied taking the phone and gave deputies a false name and birth date when asked for his information. When deputies asked why he lied about his name since he had no outstanding warrants, Brewer admitted he took the phone. He also told deputies that he smashed and threw the phone “in the dump” when deputies asked for the phone.

He was placed under arrest and transported to the Marion County Jail.
