Ocala bookkeeper arrested after allegedly stealing more than $600,000 from her employer

A 56-year-old Ocala bookkeeper who allegedly stole more than $600,000 has been arrested.

Brenda Dauner allegedly used her position at Finyl Sales Inc. to steal the money.

An investigation by the Ocala Police Department, which spanned several months and involved thousands of documents from multiple banks, revealed Dauner had written checks to herself totaling $578,545, and had fraudulently charged $33,214 on the company credit card. Additionally, Dauner forged the company president’s signature on checks made out to company vendors, totaling $1,341,978.05.

Dauner was arrested Tuesday on a charge of grand theft over $100,000 and booked at the Marion County Jail.
