Motorcyclist transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center after crash on County Road 468

A motorcyclist was transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center after crashing into a pickup shortly before 6 a.m. Monday on County Road 468 in Wildwood.

Jon Edwin Martin, 45, of Sorrento, had been riding a 1996 Honda motorcycle westbound on CR468 when a pickup truck driven by 50-year-old Ralph Leonard Wheat of Oxford made a left turn onto County Road 507, according to an accident report from the Florida Highway Patrol. The truck turned directly into the motorcycle’s path.

The impact of the crash forced the motorcycle to cross over into the eastbound lane where it collided with a 2010 Ford Fusion driven by 31-year-old Aaron Michael Bethea.

Martin was transported by ambulance to ORMC. He had not been wearing a helmet, the report indicated.

Wheat was ticketed on a charge of failure to yield.
