A woman whose teenage “problem child” sparked an outcry earlier this year from a group of Villagers, has been sentenced in a drunk driving case.
Lynn Marcella Woods, 48, who lives at 3561 Idlewood Loop in the Village of Summerhill, had been arrested Dec. 21 after she was found sleeping in her blue Volkswagen at Lake Sumter Landing. The car’s driver’s side door was open and there was a pile of vomit outside of it. She admitted she had been drinking at City Fire, according to the arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. The keys were in the car’s ignition and turned on to enable the operation of the air conditioning and radio.
Last week in Sumter County Court, Woods pleaded no contest in the case. She will lose her driver’s license for six months, was placed on probation for a year and has been ordered to perform 50 hours of community service.
Community Development District 3 supervisors heard pleas in January from a room full of residents who called for action regarding Woods’ teen son who the Village of Summerhill homeowners labeled a “problem child.” Woods and the teen were living with Woods’ mother, the residents said. They claimed the teenager was roaming the streets, peeping in windows and had exposed himself to at least one woman.
